Motorcycle Lighting

On April 8, 2008 Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley signed Senate Bill 713 authorizing the use of certain auxiliary lighting on motorcycles.

Effective June 1, 2008, Maryland motorcyclists can legally ride with light emitting diode (LED) pods and strips on their motorcycle, provided they do not blink, oscillate, or flash and are not red or blue, as these colors are reserved for law enforcement and emergency vehicles. That leaves amber, green, hot pink, jade, orange, purple, and white.

There are to many car-motorcycle accidents that are a direct result of the car driver not seeing the motorcycle, especially at night. Motorcycle LED Lighting can change all that. With the proper products and installation, motorcycles can become highly visible from significant distances.

SG Motorcycle by StreetGlow for example has been selling Motorcycle Lighting products on motorcycles and has been continuously promoting their use as a matter of safety and visibility. Our motto is "Be Scene." and Maryland bikers can now do just that.

When purchasing Motorcycle lights, whether you "DYI" or have them professionally installed only buy products that are waterproof and have high quality adhesiveness so the lighting fixtures (pods or strips), once applied, will not vibrate off. In addition, we provide telephone support to our customers. Also, installation should be done using separate wiring and a separate switch so as not to interfere with your bike's wiring or its warranty. Be aware, too, that the quality and brightness of motorcycle LED lights vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Senate Bill 713 also authorizes the use of blue dot illumination on the rear of the motorcycle as part of, or adjacent to, the rear brake light and standard bulb running lights. Please check out our LED Singles.

StreetGlow specializes in Motorcycle LED Lighting. We attend many of the major motorcycle events educating motorcyclists on this important safety issue and on the benefits and the quality of motorcycle lighting products and professional installation.

My father is an avionics engineer, who could tell you every diode, relay, and wiring schematic on each Gulfstream business jet built in the last 29 years. Whereas he enjoys his job and is very good at it, I didn't share the same enthusiasm for electronics when it came time for me to choose a career. If he had a part-time auto fab shop or a hot-rod business then, I would have definitely followed suit in his line of work.

For 15-year-old Shane DeBerti, sharing the enthusiasm and love for building custom trucks is a passion directly attributed to his father Doug DeBerti. Known for his wild and over-the-top custom builds, Doug has created rides for several Truckin' covers and has been featured many times, as well. Knowing the quality of work turned out by DeBerti Designs each year, Ford approached Shane to build a truck for Generation-Y. When it came time for Shane to showcase what he picked up from his old man, Shane proved he had his own unique style and the family resources to make the design become a reality.

Starting with a fresh-off-the-lot '06 F-150 4x4, Shane and the DeBerti Designs team immediately tore the factory suspension off of the Ford, then replaced it with a new 12-inch suspension set-up from Rize Industries. The lift features custom-made 10-inch-long King Off-Road coilover shocks with an external bypass. The rear was aided by Atlas lift springs. The added height enabled the DeBerti team to bolt-on 22x12-inch TIS wheels with 40-inch Toyo tires on each corner. Peering through the large hoops are 14-inch SSBC Tri-Power big brakes. Helping the 5.4L propel those huge wheels and tires was the addition of a Volant exhaust and Hypertech Power Programmer.

With the F-150 up in the air, the DeBerti Designs crew focused on the body. After several measurements were taken, a template was made for CNC-machined billet fender vents made in-house. The truck was then driven down to the Air Syndicate Shop in Bakersfield, California, where Craig Fraser got to work by adding PPG and House of Kolor smoke onto the Ford Black basecoat. Three separate stripes of smoke were applied to the body, which adds to the fierce look of the lifted F-150. Other custom touches include the addition of the Grippin Billet Slinger bullet door handles, C.L. Laurence power rear window, DEPO LED taillights, a StreetGlow strobe light kit, a LED light bar third brake light, and 3D Carbon front valance. To make the truck really stand out at night, the F-150 received a full complement of StreetGlow LED Truck Lighting Accessories.

At SEMA this year I met a gentlemen named Steve Sampson, editor of Horsing Around a column in the Magazine Bronco Driver. We both got to talkn' about his passion for Bronco Trucks and off roadn'.

Steve stopped by our booth because he dug those crazy lights! Anyway, one thing led to another and we exchanged numbers cause he had some great ideas for increasing visibility for off roadn' with his Bronco. When I got back I sent Steve a 49" LED Tailgate Strip or an LED Light Bar (as most of people call it) and our Strobe Light Kit (SGPROSKIT).

Well yesterday I got a Bronco Driver magazine in the mail and low and behold there was a tech article by Steve on how to add our crazy lights to a Bronco his in particular.

If you have a Bronco or no someone who does, Bronco Driver magazine witnesses and records Bronco enthusiasts pushing those trucks to the limit.

StreetGlow: Who we are and what we are about.

A young soldier named Cody contacted us last month asking us if we could send a small care package to his Platoon in Iraq. He told us how they bunked in a gymnasium and how they reminisced about home, their families, girls, and even cars at night. Cody asked if we could send his platoon a care package of goodies, nothing much just some SG decals, banners and posters.

Immediately with out hesitation we responded to the request and sent out a care package of SG goodies to our soldiers. It was the least we could do for our fellow Americans who volunteered to serve our country abroad.

Cody plans to get married this upcoming year and like us he dreams of a better future. Join me in thanking Cody and his Platoon in all that they do.

From the bottom of our hearts thank you and stay safe.

Over the past two years StreetGlow has sponsored many different vehicles, shows and events. However there is one show that seems to have everyone talking, that show is CMTs Trick My Truck. The show is hosted by the crew at the Chrome Shop Mafia.

About Trick My Truck (by TrickMyTruck.com)
A few years ago, CMT (Country Music Channel) gambled on a show that would change the heart of many Americans forever. The storied CMT introduced a six show pilot called Trick My Truck. It was a new reality show featuring a deserving trucker and his 18-wheeler in each episode. The show's theme similar to pimpmyride and overhaulin, where old vehicles are restored except the target vehicles are semi truck owner operators who own and operate semi trucks. A crew of experts searches the truck stops of America looking for run-down trucks whose owners are in need of a blessing and break. With the secret help of family members, the owner operator's big rig is "hijacked", and completely revamped with all the latest and greatest features and equipment.

Everone knows that the best part about the show is when they show the truck completed accented with StreetGlow LED and Neon Lighting!

Check out this complation video of some of the trucks they have completed on the show!
